Summary/Objective:
The second shift Dispatcher will help create trucking routes for our Carson Team that keep costs down but meet customer scheduling needs. The Dispatcher will be responsible for using the latest routing software to establish daily trucking routes that make required stops outlined in customer contracts. The successful candidate for this position needs to adjust to last-minute changes and work with drivers to schedule emergency pick-up or delivery for new or established clients when necessary.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop delivery routes and maintain contact with drivers throughout the day 
  • Collaborate with management to modify daily routes to accommodate the needs of customers 
  • Monitor driver activities – (via Fleetlocate / Spireon system to keep customer updated on the progress of container extraction, delivery and/or in-gate.)
  • Cultivate strong relationships with drivers and customers to reduce the stress that comes with last-minute schedule changes 
  • Monitor any sudden route changes or road construction issues and work with drivers to establish new routes for timely deliveries
  • Updating/ data entry of Trinium (TMS) with accessorial (Terminal WT, Split terminations, Stop offs, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot problems at terminals and communicate with the customer to ensure timely extraction of units
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with the drivers (driver retention).
  • Identify and process hazardous loads, assuring that all appropriate documents needed to conduct the move are submitted 
  • Managing and tracking multiple customers and their containers
  • Provide daily status updates to customers
  • Coordinate and communicate pick up and deliveries with dispatchers, outside vendors, terminals, Warehouse Operations, and customers
  • Proper time keeping and dispatching drivers to meet terminal appointments.
  • Properly performing data entry on LCL and TL work orders / Delivery Orders.
  • Checking loose freight availability.
  • Troubleshooting issues appointment, pier pass, refusing empties etc.
  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma/GED required 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule
  • Strong knowledge of the roadways throughout the immediate area 
  • Ability to work in a team environment in high-pressure situations 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential
  • Knowledge of Trinium system (preferred)
  • 2-years logistics industry experience preferred
